Highly recommended after the game scene though

"Two Kings!” Krista piped laying the cards on in the pot laying on my lap. She sat cross legged on the hospital bed with me. Sitting up straight and laid her cards face down in her lap leaning forward, now were both now down to one card. you looked up from my last card and glared at her. For such an innocent girl she had one hell of a poker face. you swallowed the lump in my throat and laid down my last card.

“One Ace.” you stated and crossed my arms challenging her to say it.

‘that’s it! the cat’s in the-’

“Bullshit!” She called out and flipped over the card that had just laid down….a queen,.

“Damn it Krista!” you shouted smacking the pile off my lap then pouted indignantly.

"Can't you just let me win for once." I asked. Krista giggled and crawled up to my face planting a sweet kiss on my lips. Her soft hair fell in waves grazing your face. Her perfume accented the air around.

‘what the hell, I can’t stay mad at you.’ you thought rolling your eyes.

You smiled and soon leaned into her kissing back, there was not enough time in the day to be mad at any one thing. She laid down, you held each other for a while relishing the moment; she was the most beautiful creature and you had the privilege to call her yours.

The monitor I was hooked up fluttered along with my heartbeat. She saw into your eyes and laced her fingers with yours. The monitor seemed to remind you that time was only borrowed for now. But can you bear to pay back the interest?

‘_y/n_?’ Krista asked coming home from work one day. She knew you had been ill for a while so she was earger to check back on you. Eerily the little apartment was completely dark.

“K-Krista…” She heard a pitiful cry from the bathroom. Quickly coming to your aid froze seeing you in the bath tub gasping slightly. you wore only a large t-shirt, blood ran down from between your legs. There was no way this was only the flu.

“My back hurts really bad.” you teared up look at her. Watching you in such a state broke her heart. She clutched her hands to keep from panicking for you.

“I'll get you dressed and- and I'll take you to the hospital right away.” She said attempting to stay calm herself.

Renal cell carcinoma.

This was the beginning of a relentless battle for your life.

Hunched over and defeated all Krista could do was hold your hair back and rub your back until your stomach was empty. She said that she would be with you every single step of treatment, even if all your hair fell out. Your voice was raw as you apologized profusely. Your mouth was gritty and the air stenched of vomit.

“Hehe Im sorry for making you play doctor: I’ll bet I look like something the cat dragged.” You groggily told her, a bit loopy from all the drugs.
“Don’t say that!” She said timidly. She wrapped your hair up with a clip brushing stands behind your ear.

“You will always be gorgeous, I love you always” She kissed your forehead while handing you a mixture of water and baking soda.

“oh shut up, if I were a caterpillar...i'd come out of my cocoon as a fatter caterpillar.” you said rinsing and spitting the baking soda. You saw her smile, at least you could keep some joy around you'd be happier.

“Well, if you don't particularly feel good ill take a shower with you” She offered. Apparently that was the trick because your whole demeanor seemed to change: Your back sprang up from being hunched over the toilet as you grabbed Krista's shirt with eyes that would make puppies jealous. You cheered and buried your head in the crook of her neck with watery eyes. Giggling like an idiot.

You were declared in remission just a year ago; but who could've predicted it would return in stage III. This surgery was the last shot.

She was the best girlfriend in the entire world, she would never let you struggle alone like this. You never wanted to put her in a situation like this. Looking down at her you bit your lip slightly.
'its not fair. I'll accept my fate with grace, just let her be happy.'

You caressed her blonde hair, which was soft like waves of silk; listening to her heartbeat set its perfect pace, and see the sheets shifting with her breath as well as mine.

“Historia? No matter what happens, I love you and I always will.”

“I love you with every fiber of my being _y/n_.”

'One last day it could be. This could be the last time I spend in your arms.'

.....................

Pulling back the curtains, Krista gazed pensively outside. The cool air of spring filled the room. The sun hadn't completely risen yet. Yet everything in the room seemed to take an angelic yellow tint.

“Are you nervous much?” Krista said scratching the back of her head. Today was the day, you were going to have your kidneys removed. You looked at Krista pacing anxiously.

‘I’m scared as hell.’ you thought but simply swallowed and smiled up at her.

“I’m not, I will come back to you. Please hold my hand.” You pleaded, she happily agreed. She would be with you all the way. Peacefully you two stayed in silence until you heard a knock.

   ‘It was time.’

“Historia?” I said with tears in my eyes, your heart gripped at your request. She held onto your hand tighter, her fear was drawing closer at the clock ticked. She didn't want to have you torn away from her.

“I believe that there just may be a better world for us. I will never stop falling in love with you.” your voice quivered.
“You live your life true to yourself and not others.” you said and pulled her in for another kiss. you could feel her tears fall.

"Shut up,-" she said wiping away a tear. "I'll wait for you, I always will."

As she was pulled away the nurse led Krista to the waiting room.
'You idiot, don't say goodbye.'

Lost in her thoughts the nurse placed a gentle hand on her shoulder.

“Miss; we’ll take care of her.”
..............................................

Outside, snowflakes grace the midnight skies in all her beauty whirling in a never-ending dance. The lone moon graces us in her generous touch, but unlike the moon, tonight I shall not be alone. Krista thought looking up at the winter sky.

"Hello beautiful." Krista heard before leaning up and getting a kiss on her forehead.

It was all inerrant.

Das Ende
